2023/04/24 Collaboration between our association and Chung Hua University to promote youth hostel courses

YHA  has been collaborating with the Department of Hospitality Management at Chung Hua University to promote courses on managing and operating youth hostels for the past two years. Through lectures by industry experts, off-campus visits, and workplace experience, students gain a deeper understanding and concept of youth hostel operations. The course for this semester ended on April 21, and our secretary general, Chen Xin-Shou, presented the graduates of the dual-certified youth hostel program with certificates.

This course not only provides students with practical experience, but also helps to respond to the tourism boom after the epidemic. Taiwan's excellent epidemic control has made it a safe tourist destination worldwide, attracting more international tourists. Therefore, providing more high-quality youth hostels will contribute to the development of Taiwan's tourism industry.

A total of twelve industry players participated in this course plan, including May Rooms Hostel, Beimen WOW Poshtel, Taiwan Youth Hostel, Taipei Walker, Orange Hotel, West U House, KICK LIFE Backpackers Inn, Taichung Fengjia Yeh Green Hostel, Cao Wu Dao Piaoniao, Hualien Whale Homestay, New Zealand Australia Chinese Tourism, and Li Tianshuang. These industry players also highly praised the effectiveness of this course and expressed their willingness to continue working with our association to improve the level of Taiwan's tourism industry.

Ms. Lo Chi, a teacher at the Department of Hospitality Management at Chung Hua University, said that this collaboration with youth hostels not only allows students to understand and verify what they have learned in the course, but also enables them to actually experience the environment and management of youth hostels through visits, accommodation, and workplace experience. They can then learn how to market and operate a youth hostel. They also look forward to having more similar collaborations with our association and industry players in the future, not only to provide more practical experience for students in hospitality-related majors but also to promote youth hostels on campus.
