Taiwan YHA holds this
Youth Rally purposely – on the one hand, to promote the
aims and values of IYHF and offer our gratitude to all
the Asian YHA Associations who have supported our
Association over the past three years – and on the other
hand, to help celebrate the 100th Anniversary of youth
hostelling around the World.
Although the theme of
this Youth Rally is entitled “Exploring Ilha
Formosa-Taiwan”, it is being held and conducted in the
spirit of “Peace and Understanding”. We hope that
through this Rally not only will the participants make
new friends, but also through their endeavours and their
sharing of their journey, more “youth” in this Asian
Pacific Region will learn and realize that “traveling”
has the power to foster mutual understanding between all
people and bring peace to the
World.
Taiwan
is a wonderful destination for
youth travelers to learn these core values and the
importance of this topic for future generations of
travelers.
We hope that this
beautiful and prosperous Island will retain its beauty
forever and continue to become a most popular youth
travel destination.
We
are very glad that more than 40 participants from ten
countries are attending this Youth Rally, which is being
held by our Association for the very first time.
We
offer our deepest gratitude to
Australia,
China,
Japan,
Hong Kong,
Korea,
Malaysia,
New
Zealand,
Singapore,
Thailand
and
Vietnam YHA – for devoting their efforts in organizing
delegations to attend this Rally. Without their support
it could not be happened as planned.
Special thanks to Ms Yin Chen, General
Secretary of China YHA, Mr. Kuang Xiong Jie, Board
Member of China YHA, Mr. Mathew Cheng, General Manager
of Hong Kong YHA, Mr. Pravee (Peter) Komolkanchana, CEO
of Thailand YHA, who lead their delegations to attend
this Rally.
We
are extremely grateful and honored that Ms. Edith
Arnoult-Brill, President of IYHF, shortly after she took
her new post, has been able to make her first official
trip to
Asia, to be
present at this Rally.
We
also thank Mr. Promvit Klampaiboon, long-time friend and
supporter of Taiwan YHA, for coming over here from
Thailand
to
help us conduct this
event.
In
harmony with the spirit of youth travel, we wish to
conduct the activities of this event with the thought of
reducing the drain and the strain on the Earth’s
precious and limited resources – and we have therefore
included some “environmental friendliness” into some of
our Programme Events.
We hope you enjoy yourself
in every activity we have carefully arranged for you.
